The laboratory holds a certificate of accreditation issued by the Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of North Macedonia under the requirements of the standard MKS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018. The accredited methods cover the determination of additives (acesulfame K, sodium saccharin, aspartame, caffeine, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate) in soft drinks and other food products, and the determination of methanol and higher alcohols in alcoholic beverages.

Other chemical analyses

Besides the accredited methods, the laboratory carries out other chemical analyses that help determine food quality and safety, such as:

  • Basic physico-chemical parameters important for the quality of food products
  • Determination of various chemical components, especially bioactive components, in agricultural products and their processed products
  • Determination of pesticide residues in samples of fruit, vegetables, water and more

Teaching and services

The laboratory hosts practical classes for first-, second- and third-cycle students and research for diploma, master's and doctoral theses. Its infrastructure is also available for research and applied work by researchers from the Faculty and from other institutions.
