On 12 December 2025 the Faculty's students, in a visit organised by Prof. Zoran Popovski, took part in field teaching at the biogas plant in the village of Saramzalino and at the Kamnik winery.
The teaching took place within the GMO course, and its aim was to connect the theory with the ways new knowledge can be applied in the development of these companies.
At the biogas plant, the hosts introduced the students to the management of different kinds of crop and livestock waste and to biogas production. After a tour of the plant and the laboratory, a discussion followed on how genetic engineering could improve these biotechnological processes.
The field teaching continued at the Kamnik winery, where the hosts introduced the students to the biotechnological processes of wine production. Here too, after a tour of the facilities and the laboratory, the discussion turned to the possible use of genetic modification in the wine industry.
The students' great interest during the visits and their active part in the discussions deserve a special mention.
