Services

Its long-standing expertise is aimed at modernisation, greater efficiency and protection in agricultural production, through the following services:

  • Expert advice and optimisation – recommendations on the proper operation and matching of power machinery and implements, for the greatest economy of work.
  • Safety at work – training and protective measures for machine operators in vine and fruit growing, livestock farming, vegetable and flower growing, and field crop production.
  • Precision agriculture and digitalisation – training in introducing modern digital devices and advanced technologies for the smart management of machinery.
  • Plant protection training – specialised courses in the correct use of machines and equipment for applying plant protection products.
  • Homologation and certification – official testing, homologation and certification of power machines and implements (including plant protection machinery) in the laboratory.

Equipment

The laboratory is also a machinery practice room, equipped with teaching models (cutaway engines, machinery, farm machines and diagrams) that make the courses of the Department of Agricultural Engineering much easier to teach. For testing the working characteristics of the power machines and implements used in the various branches of agriculture, it has:

  • Six-channel strain-gauge meter – an instrument that measures several parameters at once: the horizontal and vertical forces acting on implements, fuel consumption (with probes), working temperature, instantaneous working speed and more.
  • Penetrometer – an instrument for determining the condition of the soil (the plough layer).
  • Moisture meter – an instrument for determining the moisture content of the soil, so that each field operation is carried out properly.
  • Sound level meter – an instrument for measuring the noise of power machines and implements at work.
  • Probes – instruments for measuring carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the exhaust gases of power machines.
  • Pressure gauges and other equipment.
