Laboratory

Laboratory of Plant Tissue Culture

The laboratory is designed for work with plant material under aseptic in vitro conditions. It enables micropropagation, regeneration, conservation, experimental manipulation, the production of uniform plant material and support for mutation breeding.

Analyses

  • establishing sterile in vitro cultures
  • surface sterilisation of plant material
  • micropropagation of selected genotypes
  • clonal propagation
  • culture of meristems, shoot tips, nodes, embryos and other explants
  • callus induction
  • shoot regeneration
  • root induction
  • embryo rescue
  • producing uniform plant material for experiments
  • maintaining valuable genotypes in vitro
  • conservation of selected plant genetic resources
  • producing uniform, disease-free starting material
  • in vitro screening of plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress
  • in vitro selection of tolerant and/or resistant genotypes
  • regeneration and multiplication of selected mutant lines
  • supporting mutation breeding through in vitro regeneration, selection and propagation
  • propagation of rare, valuable or hard-to-maintain germplasm
  • preparing uniform material for molecular, phenotypic, physiological and biochemical analyses and analyses of stress resistance/tolerance
  • work with historical or old plant material only where the samples are viable or suitable for embryo rescue, regeneration or establishing a culture
